Business Intelligence Strategy

 

CLIENT CHALLENGE

This organisation had a desire to improve their competitive position in the market. BI was seen as opportunity to provide a platform for better decision making, visibility into the business and leveraging the potentially rich data at hand into information and useful knowledge for both the organisation and its clients the retail insurers.

DESCRIPTION

This organisation utilised a combination of office applications and manual workarounds to report on business performance. However, there was an ambition and recognition by the organisation to leverage the vast amounts of organisational data, to make it explicit knowledge and use it to direct and drive decision making to improve the decisions at all levels across the organisation.


To take this from concept through to delivery, the first step was a level setting exercise across the varying degrees of understanding of BI within the organisation both locally and internationally. Our task was to not only create a compelling vision, strategy and roadmap for BI, but to also educate key stakeholders in what BI could do for the business and how they may be able to improve organisational and business performance.

OUTCOMES

A shared vision and understanding of the way forward for the organisation was achieved using a combination of one on one interviews and shared experiences using our 'Accelerator Workshop' services. This combined with an initial shortlist of potential vendors for further investigation prior to implementation of the strategy. We assisted in the initial business case and provided a draft project plan for the implementation.
