CLIENT CHALLENGE
This Government department was about to embark on developing a major new application to support the business. One option was to use the existing instance of Siebel and extend that. The Client was concerned about a number of issues related to fit for purpose and total cost of ownership.
DESCRIPTION
CEC was engaged to undertake an architecture review. The review was to determine:
- if there had been modifications made to the Siebel package that would prohibit its use for the new business application e.g. modifications that simply ‘hard code’ a clash in business requirements for both areas of the organisation
- if the Siebel product supported the new business requirements regardless of the configuration of the existing Siebel instance
- would the licenses already purchased cover what might be required by the scope of the new project?
OUTCOMES
The engagement achieved the following results for this Client:
- selection of the software platform for the new application and a subsequent tender process
- buy-in by users to the likely direction including internal sign-off
- identification of risks to the existing Siebel instance (if it was to be used)
- impact on the overall solution architecture of the organisation
